Healing Crisis: Manky Nails and Dr Lewinn Nourishing Oil

AVERT YOUR EYES. Seriously, I am putting the photo on the jump due to extreme grossness.

OMGGGGG. Okay, first of all, let me say that I don’t pick, peel, poke, shred, or gnaw my cuticles. All this excess skin — am I sci-fi lizard or something? I feel like if you cut off that middle finger, I would regenerate another one over night. Nassssty.

I’m on day four of the Dr Lewinn’s Renunail stregthening regime, and I have also been applying the Nourishing Oil to the nails and the cuticles, and it is the oil that has, er, encouraged the skin around my nail to start shedding.

This is what is known as a ‘healing crisis’. Meaning that when you start to mind an area that you’ve been ignoring, sometimes things get worse before they get better.

I see how this works, though: they look so incredibly bad that I can’t help but keep tending them until they get better.

Three days to go, then I remove the coats of strengthener I’ve been piling on. I’ll give it the prescribed one week rest, and then start it all over again for another seven days. The nourishing oil, however,  keeps on keepin’ on until … until my nails no longer exude mank.

I am visualising the end result — this will be worth it!
