Did anyone else think that this holiday was completely weird, time-wise? Not only that it came up so quickly, but also, I don’t know, it just seemed like everything was on the wrong day?

I blame Tuesday. Aw, poor Tuesday, I feel bad immediately saying that. However: Christmas on a Tuesday just doesn’t work. So let’s avoid that for the next while, ‘kay?

Because of time and Tuesdays, I suddenly don’t even have twelve days to do a single Top Twelve per day, so I’m doing some grouping here. Let’s start with makeup, my B&B birdies!

Oh, makeup! How I love you! I can’t even remember how I managed to decide what were my top choices in this department. The world of product that you can put on your face is vast — it is, in fact, a universe. Eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipstick, lip gloss, blush! How in the world/universe did I choose the following?

> Vichy Pureté Thermale Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover

Basically? There is no point in piling on your eyeshadows and your eyeliners if your base is rubbish, and if you can’t take it off utterly and completely to begin again the next day.

I love L’Oréal Nude Magique on those days when I want light but comprehensive coverage, the kind of day when I am taking it easy on the macquillage. It adapts to your skin tone, and is the best BB cream I’ve come across. Considering that I believe in BB Creams less than I believe in Santa, that is saying something.

Gotta prime, ladiez, and BeneFit PoreFessional is as good as you’re going to get. It visibly minimises pores and fine lines, is velvety smooth, and gives you the smoothest canvas as possible on which to practice your artistry.

As a product line, Hourglass Cosmetics is my 2012 Big Discovery, and the Veil Foundation is a real hero. It finishes with a powder set, so that’s one less thing you have to put on your face. It is entirely waterproof, and I recommend going on counter to get a perfect match, because the match? It will be perfect. I put it on and forget it, which is exactly what you want from all your makeup.

I love Vichy Pureté Thermale Soothing Eye Make-Up Remover so much, I’ve written about it twice in my column in the Evening Herald. This takes off everything and anything, and is the ultimate Smokey Eye Buster. All with a minimal amount of product dispensed! This is my anchor cleansing product — even waterproof mascara and eyeliner quail in its presence.
